Academics are an odd bunch. Even if they don’t have direct access to tons of cool pharmaceutical narcotics, then they generally know how to concoct them out of ordinary household products. Despite this, they appear reluctant to abuse these substances for recreational purposes. Couple this with the fact that they know how pretty much everything works and you have a bunch of people who don’t understand that freaky shit was put there to amuse them.
