Marriage IS A COURT PARTNERSHIP!!!!!! It's only the idiots within CHRISTIAN RELIGIONS that turned it into a religious ceremony. Our government has adopted the rules from christian society and THAT is why two men or two women can not marry. Not surprising seeing as to how much political pull these religions have within our government. It is a CONTRACT...an AGREEMENT under court of law..PERIOD. It always has been. Marriage under religious guidelines is an OFFSHOOT of that contract. If religious bodies wish to discriminate who can or can not enter into a contract of marriage then fine, so be it. However, our government CAN NOT discriminate and yet they do. The hypocrisy surrounding all of this is INSANE in both the government and these religious institutions who claim marriage is between a man and a woman under god. Yeah, ok, under god... Let's hear it for "under god" when priests within the hierarchy of the catholic churches CONSISTENTLY get "slaps on the wrists" where civilian offenders get 15-20 yrs. It wasn't until the 12th century that the Roman Catholic Church formally defined marriage as a sacrament, sanctioned by God.
