Remembering When Deadmau5 Used A Fan’s Vocals On One Of His Tracks
The web may’ve brought us many bad things, like dinosaur erotica, captchas and those endless Buzzfeed quizzes that all your friends take. But without it incredible things like this would never happen: jump aboard the YouTube time machine and journey back to March 2012 when EDM doyen Deadmau5 was livestreaming himself.
Sitting there at his computer screen being watched by thousands he chanced upon a tweet from someone called Chris James. Mr James had created some vocals for an instrumental song Deadmau5 had made and put on his Soundcloud called “The Veldt”, inspired by a Ray Bradbury short story of the same name.
You can see in the recently uploaded video of the stream how genuinely excited Deadmau5 is when he hears the track with the added vocals—he’s so impressed he contacted James and a month later released an official version of the song with his added vocals. Ladies and gentlemen, behold the awesome power of the internets in action!
Listen to the finished track below and why not tweet Deadmau5 with your own lyrics to his songs—good, bad, or just plain unlistenable.
