Filmmakers Wylie Overstreet and Alex Gorosh build a scale model of the solar system on a dry lakebed in Nevada. Using a 7-mile stretch of Black Rock Desert the duo lay out the sun, which is a little bit bigger than a pilates ball, Earth is a tiny blue marble, and even Saturn and Jupiter could easily fit in the hand.

It’s really stunning to see the chunk of floating rock our entire lives are contained upon reduced to something like this.

The Modular Body is the work of Dutch filmmaker and artist Floris Kaayk. In the video above we’re shown what looks like skinless fleshy body parts that can be put together in a modular fashion and then starts to move. It’s actually just one of over 50 interconnected videos which make up an online sci-fi storytelling project.

It’s a huge narrative that follows fictional researcher Cornelis Vlasman, a bioengineer who creates a modular lifeform.

Comedian Ethan Klein from YouTube channel h3h3 productions took a trip to New York City’s Museum of Modern Art and was inspired to make a video showing people how, if they wish, they too can make some modern art. As well as demonstrating how you can become an artist (put something behind glass) the video also results in Klein’s own attempt, his red beanie.

It’s currently on auction on eBay and the current highest bid is US $2,000,100.00.

Using footage shot from the Washington Street bridge above State Route 163 in San Diego, filmmaker and artist Cy Kuckenbaker reveals the color palette and color preferences of contemporary San Diego drivers in addition to traffic patterns and volumes, by reordering and reorganizing the passing cars by color in 4 minutes of footage that he shot. It looks great and will satisfy the OCD side of you.

A giant warehouse in Brisbane is about to be demolished but before it disappears off the face of the earth, street artists Sofles — Fintan Magee, Treas, and Quench — were given the opportunity to cut loose in there and do what the hell they liked. And what they liked was to create a graffiti timelapse video covering nearly every inch of wall space with a seemingly unlimited amount of paint. It looks like great fun, one to defo try at home.

The line between digital space and real world is blurred in a stunning piece of art where industrial robots dance about with screens while projection-mapped graphics are precisely and expertly shown on them, producing some optical illusions that will make you want to scream “FAKE!”.
