The Modular Body is the work of Dutch filmmaker and artist Floris Kaayk. In the video above we’re shown what looks like skinless fleshy body parts that can be put together in a modular fashion and then starts to move. It’s actually just one of over 50 interconnected videos which make up an online sci-fi storytelling project.

It’s a huge narrative that follows fictional researcher Cornelis Vlasman, a bioengineer who creates a modular lifeform.

Nothing’s sexier than a hot tub, right? It’s a place where people go to strip off their clothes and inhibitions and party like Bacchanalian revellers in a swimsuit—except, as well as all those lithe young bodies in the water, there’s also bacteria, fungi, fecal matter, dead skin, the remains of pus-filled blisters and other icky horrors in these swamps of human filth. So next time you get invited to a tub party, wear a wetsuit. Or better yet, wear a hazardous materials suit.

Action Man figures were a toy sensation many, many years ago, and there was many variations showing all the different ranks and job roles in the armed forces—but this film from Veterans For Peace UK puts a somewhat darker spin on the popular figurine. As a challenge to the British Army’s policy of recruiting 16 year olds into the most dangerous army jobs, it shows the horrors of PTSD.

So includes Action Man doing drugs, committing suicide, in a wheelchair, and dead.

Ever wondered what a Lego minifig might look like it it was made from flesh? You probably haven’t because you’re not some kind of sicko who wants to inflict horror on others. But Adam Savage from Tested is, and that’s why at this year’s Comic-Con he commissioned FX artist Frank Ippolito to design and sculpt a LEGO-inspired mask and hands (OMG the hands), made to look like a real-life version of a minifig.

The result is the nightmare-inducing CreepyFig. Pray it doesn’t come for you while you sleep.

OK, before you spew onto your keyboard, this isn’t actually condom ice cream, because even Japan wouldn’t be that crazy. It is, in fact, known as “Egg Ice Cream” and has been in Japan for many, many years. For some reason, maybe the person who designed it was a bit of a joker, but it looks just like a blown up condom….With some extreme gooey innuendo. M’mm.

Although banned in many countries the practice of FGM still goes on, with the latest research revealing that 125 million girls and women across the globe are suffering the consequences of it. Charity Plan UK want the practice to be completely eradicated and need the world to act as one to help achieve this.

“FGM is a human rights violation facing millions of girls and young women across the world,” says Plan UK CEO, Tanya Barron. “We believe FGM is a global problem that requires a coordinated global solution. Because the beliefs and traditions that are used to justify FGM cross borders, we won’t end FGM in the UK without ending it abroad.”

And now we can all do our bit by joining the campaign, sharing the #FGMrose video and help put an end to this unnecessary and barbaric practice.

From the bizarre mind of Los Angeles-based online performance artist Ze Frank comes a strange and morbid video of a cute stuffed teddy bear going through a gruesome surgery procedure.

Called ‘Teddy Has An Operation’, it shows the dissection of a stuffed bear—revealing his ‘life-like’ organs such as kidneys, heart and other innards.

But don’t worry, soon teddt will be all better again….Thank god.

Ze Frank (born Hosea Jan Frank on March 31, 1972) is an American online performance artist, composer, humorist and public speaker based in Los Angeles, California.

He was a pioneer of the vlogging format and is considered one of the most influential people in the field, inspiring such shows as the vlogbrothers, Philip DeFranco and Wheezy Waiter.

He is currently executive vice president of video at BuzzFeed.

Frank was born to German-American parents and raised in a suburb of Albany, New York. He has a sister, who is a painter.

He was educated at Montessori school, known for its constructivist teaching methods, and graduated in 1995 in neuroscience from Brown University. At the university, he played guitar and sang lead vocals for a funk/jam band called Dowdy Smack, along with Blues Traveler bassist Tad Kinchla, until its dissolution in 1998. In 2003 he married his longtime girlfriend Jody Brandt whom he met at Brown University; the couple dated for five years before marrying.

In 2001, Frank created an online birthday invitation and sent it to seventeen of his closest friends. Forwarded wildly, the invitation soon generated millions of hits and over 100 gigabytes of daily web traffic to Frank’s personal Web site. The site grew to include interactive group projects, short films, animations, and video games, many Flash-based, including children’s educational videos featuring handy tips such as “Don’t vacuum your face”.

Frank won a 2002 Webby Award for Best Personal Website and in 2005, he was featured in Time Magazine’s “50 Coolest Websites”.[6] Frank debuted onstage at the Gel conference in 2003, and later spoke at the TED Conference in 2004 and 2005, as well as 2008.

Frank has served as an adjunct professor at ITP/NYU, Parsons School of Design, and SUNY Purchase.

Discussing his work in the digital medium, and the potential of new platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter, Frank said, “For me, experimentation is not about the technology. In an ever-changing technological landscape, where today’s platforms are not tomorrow’s platforms, the key seems to be that any one of these spaces can use a dose of humanity and art and culture.”
