Meet Mexico’s Drug Cartels That are Now Stealing the Country’s Oil

If it wasn’t enough that the notorious Mexican drug cartels have desecrated the country with violence and warfare, they’ve now taken to exploiting the country’s oil reserves too. VICE News reports on what’s happening, as 10,000 barrels of crude oil are stolen from Mexico’s state-run oil company Pemex a day. All this is done through illegal tapping.

Pemex estimates that it loses $5 billion annually in stolen oil, some of which ends up being sold over the border in US gas stations.
