City of God, Guns & Gangs – Vanguard Documentary
If you’ve seen City of God then you’ll know that, for many, many years Rio de Janeiro’s favelas have been ruled over by violent drug gangs. But what with the city playing host to the World Cup and Olympics (and the current riots because of that), there’s an initiative to give the entire city a facelift. In this doc journalist Mariana van Zeller talks to the leaders of Rio’s favelas and they explain they’re not giving up without a fight.
