CGI is obviously something that is a major part of filmmaking these days, but not all effects are computer-generated. Practical effects like puppets and animatronics are still very much in use. One place that’s certainly true is in the upcoming Ghost in the Shell movie. In this video Adam Savage visits Weta Workshop to get up close with some of the practical props the effects studio made for the film.

Savage gets shown the mechanical geisha masks and animatronic puppets that were created, and how Weta Workshop used new fabrication and design technologies to make these props possible.
