For fans of Ridley Scott’s original, it at first seemed almost sacrilegious that a sequel was being made. The source material on which Blade Runner is based, Philip K. Dick’s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, never had a sequel, so how was this going to work? But then Arrival director Denis Villeneuve was on board and now the first official trailer has dropped and things are seriously looking up.

Because the trailer is stunning, and there’s every chance this could be a really great sequel. We’ll have to wait until October 2017 to find out.
