The world likes a cup of coffee, in fact over 100,000 metric tons of caffeine are drunk around the world every year. Which is a lot. Mainly we drink it as a pick me up, something to energize us in the morning and get us through the afternoon. But have you ever wondered how it actually does that?
The animated short X-Story by Vitaliy Shushko has no dialogue and you don’t even get to know the name of the protagonist, all we know is that he’s following the X. But you don’t need to know any more to enjoy this anime short which took two years to make. Because it’s a visual treat and it has a great twist too.
Completely inexplicable, Calvin Reeder’s short film The Procedure won the Sundance Short Film Jury Award and it’s at once both terrifyingly bizarre and ridiculous. It features a guy who suddenly gets a tranquilizer dart in the neck and wakes up strapped to a white table in a white room.

At the Hotel Terme Millepini in Italy is the world’s deepest pool. Known as Y-40 it measures 131ft deep or 40 meters. World-record holding freediver Guillaume Néry heads there in this video, having previously sunk to 350 feet deep without any diving equipment.

Sure it doesn’t give much away, but we get some clips of sets, locations, some lightsaber training, and characters old and new.
The latest trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049 has been released and it furthers what we saw in the first and the teaser. It also shows that it’s following on quite closely from Ridley Scott’s original movie. We see Ryan Gosling’s LAPD Officer K searching for Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), with Ford saying the Blade Runners were being hunted, including himself.
This video directed by Scott Winn features Amymarie Gaertner as a dancing cat lady, Cyrus ‘Glitch’ Spencer as a dancing milkman, and a cat puppet. Together they team up for an infectious dance video that will have you wanting to leap from your seat and start busting similar moves.

In the actual press conference they start trash talking to promote their upcoming fight on August 26th.
Filmmaker Tom Lowe’s new movie looks breathtaking, at least in this trailer it does. In the wordless documentary Lowe explores humanity’s relationship with technology and the natural world, being a celebration of life, Earth, and the Cosmos. It was filmed over five years in 30 countries and Lowe developed a new tech to capture the amazing footage.
