In this short film by director Alfonso Cuarón’s son, Jonás Cuarón, who he co-wrote Gravity with, we get to see the other person on the end of the distress call that Sandra Bullock makes when instead of getting NASA she ends up talking with a random stranger who can’t speak English. It’s a tender and beautiful moment.
Sure The Avengers was an awesome movie, but it doesn’t matter how much awesome something contains, it can always be improved with some added derp, in fact this is so good that they should consider bringing out a derp edition of the entire movie, the internet would completely lose its shit over it and they could cream in even more money.
Strewth mate! Proof that alcohol and sci-fi go together in perfect harmony – The wit of Australian beer commercials is teamed with a galaxy far, far away in this 30 minute fan film which has been ten years in the making and features Ned Kelly-inspired stormtroopers, lightsabers shaped like boomerangs and more Aussie slang than you can poke a flamin’ stick at, ya winging pom. It’s bloody brilliant mate.
Little red robots roam about exploring the features of a cell phone called iDiot 4, so not much subtlety as to who they’re satirising here but it’s amusing all the same, with lots of internets in there like Grumpy Cat and Nyan cat which crop up on the phones. And in doing so it neatly sums up our relationship with technology, including those cat videos and everything else.

HOW MANY F@#KING EXPLOSIONS??? In this startling video from Japanese artist Isao Hashimoto all 2,053 nuclear explosions which happened between 1945 and 1998 are shown in a haunting animation with blips and flashes appearing in the nation that detonated them. It begins with the Manhattan Project’s “Trinity†test near Los Alamos and concludes with Pakistan’s nuclear tests in May of 1998. It starts off relatively tamely but then starts building and from around 1962 the buildup becomes terrifying. I am become death destroyer of worlds, indeed…..Global warming anyone?
While the fanboys and girls (although, let’s be honest, it’s really just the boys) are getting riled up with one another over the new outings from Microsoft and Sony, South Park have done the decent thing and trolled both parties, with the South Park kids fighting it out over the Xbox One and PS4 and which one they’ll be taking on the crowds for on Black Friday. And with lines, like this one from Cartman, such as: “Let these Sony fucks wallow in their limited voice-control functionality.” it perfectly captures the upcoming next gen war.
Wes Anderson fan? Then you’ll be glad Prada gave the auteur a shitload of money to put together an advertisement for them, starring Jason Schwartzman as a racing driver who crashes his car it’s full of the stylistic tropes and caricatures that fans are familiar with, along with having a few nods to the great Italian director Federico Fellini.
Oh dear. So George Watsk decides to do a 30ft stage dive off a lighting rig at his London gig, but what might have seemed like a good idea in the heat of the moment, turns out to have been pretty stupid, as the audience members part as he comes hurtling towards them. But not all of them managed to get out of the way in time, resulting in a guy ending up in hospital and a girl getting a broken arm. Fail.
You might think it sacrilegious to talk about anything being wrong with Back To The Future, but even though we can all agree that it’s a classic and we love it dearly, it doesn’t mean there weren’t some mistakes in there. So suspend your disbelief no longer and let Cinema Sins count down the sinful ways in which Back To The Future failed us all with its inconsistencies. Shame on them!
